Deadliest Catch

While out shopping a couple of weeks ago, I found this too cute Chaps onesie with crabs on it. Casey and Mason are big fans of the TV show "Deadliest Catch". I couldn't resist buying this for my little man. I think Captain Phil or Captain Sig would be more than happy to have Mason aboard as the newest greenhorn on the Cornelia Marie or Northwestern (although I don't know how much crabbing would actually get done)!

Six Weeks Old!

We turned six weeks old yesterday. The time has really flown by. I can't believe we've had our munchkins for this long already. We had a quiet, low key day. My mom came over for a visit during the day and Casey's mom and dad came over last night. Here are a few pics of our day, I was holding Mason while posting so I accidentally posted them in reverse order. Enjoy!

Hailey all tuckered out in her Daddy's chair. Its so tiring to be loved on so much!

Hailey loves to be held on one of our pillows. Here she is nodding off.

I had these outfits made for the twins to wear home from the hospital. They didn't arrive until the day we came home and of course they were too big. I decided their six week birthday would be the perfect day for them to try them out. They each have their first and middle name and a boy and girl in a pea pod. They always have to have their legs crossed when laying unswaddled. So cute!

Hailey waving to all her friends and family from her pack-n-play.
Mason's hands get cold when he swings so I put some mittens on him. It looked so funny since he was already wearing his Houston Texans booties. I thought he looked like a flamboyant traffic cop when he'd wave his arms. Such a mess he is!

Newborn Photo Shoot

Here are a few shots that I took with our camera of the babies' photo shoot. I can't wait to see the final results. Mason peed on Casey three times and Hailey peed on me once, but even their pee is so darn cute!!!
Hailey wore her first hair bows, too. My friend Ashley made her quite a few custom hair bows and of course Pinky was cute enough to eat! Thanks again, Ash!

Side by side - love Hailey's bow!
Working on posing Mason. He thought it was "tummy time" and would try to scoot instead of laying still. Casey's on the right and Dru is in the white shirt, Dayna's in the green shirt.

Dru shooting from above. Mason and his paci - so funny!
Cutest little booties ever!

Laying in the bean bag.
How blessed are we?!?! Our little angels are so amazing and to think they're already six weeks old today!

Soooo Tired.....

Today was a super fun, super tiring day! We had the twins' newborn portraits done with my good friend Dayna Buckalew. The babies were really good and we were able to pose them as we wanted. There are quite a few where Mason has his paci in, but I think that will just add to the pictures. My boy loves his paci! We got some great shots of the babies with us, by themselves and even with Casey's fire helmet and bunker jacket. We'll get to see the end results next week - can't wait!!!
I took a couple photos of Dayna and Dru (the photographer Dana works for) doing the photo shoot. I'll post those tomorrow, hopefully. Tonight Casey and I will be trying out our "shift work". For night time feedings we've decided to split up the night in 6 hour shifts. Casey handles the babies from 9 pm- 3 am and I'll be on duty from 3 am to 9 am. This allows each of us to get 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep...as long as a crisis doesn't erupt. So far we haven't had to call each other in for emergency back-up support but we've yet to perfect the shift plan, too. Last night we didn't wind down until 1 am. Where the time goes, we can't figure out. It feels like the Twilight Zone every night beginning around 5ish until 1 or 2 am. We have to get our timing/routine perfected VERY SOON! Casey goes back to work next Tuesday and I go back 2 weeks from tomorrow. I totally dread night time feedings when Daddy will be at work and I have to work the next day, too. Oh the anxiety!!!

Catching Up...

Here's a bunch of photos that quickly sum up what Team Turner has been up to. Life with twins is beyond busy and we're working on returning to a more "normal" life and incorporating a few outings into our days.

We had planned to take the babies to Wal-Mart and Academy. Of course Hailey and Mason needed to dress accordingly and were all ready to roll in their camo onesies. After all can you really be an Academy shopper and not be in camo?

Mason ready for action, waiting in his swing for his sister to get dressed. M has a super cute rhinestone motorcycle on his onesie.
We had to make a pit stop at Grammies for an emergency feeding. Wal-Mart took longer than expected and we made a surprise visit to Daddy's fire station. We never did make it to Academy after spending so much time at the station.
Mason and Hailey in their car seats at Grammie's

Just a cute picture of my sweet girl. She's always so expressive with her hands!

Mason loves his paci/binky. Hailey will rarely accept one.

Hailey trying to stay awake on Grammie's lap. Her onesie has a cute heart with wings on it...love it! Thank you, Dana!!!

We often travel up to Huntsville to eat at El Chico's. We're big fans of their most excellent fajitas. We took the kiddo's with us on our last outing this past weekend and Grammie and Gramps came along, too. Casey started eating salsa and jalapenos around age 2 and I'm sure our kids will love Mexican food just as much as we do.

Ready to load up and head north for some good grub!

The babies ready for their first trip to El Chico's. Mason is already gnawing on his thumb as he thinks about the yummy food.

Chilling at the table while we eat.

Mason dreaming of his next feeding.

Hailey sleeping away at El Chico's

I know its sad...we actually had to take a pic of the babies outside of El Chico's. That's how much we love this place!

Hailey and Daddy enjoying her first ride in the rocking chair on the front porch. It was super early and Casey and had been up most of the night with our little crumb-snatchers.

Daddy and a pile of babies on the Boppy. Hailey's at the top and Mason is at the bottom.

I like this picture of Hailey. Its not often we catch our sleepy girl with her eyes open.

This one makes me laugh with the fish on Casey's shirt looking like he's part of the pile of babies - what's one more mouth to feed?

This is from a few weeks ago, but I just had to post a picture of Pinky in her first pair of "britches".

Hailey will fight her way out of her swaddle to make sure her right leg is hanging out. It cracks us up! Mason is always looking to copy his big sister.

Our sweet babies hanging out in the pack-n-play.

Double Trouble! Relaxing in the bouncy seats...thank you Jackie and Michelle. Our bouncy seats are used everyday.

My mom and grandparents usually come over at least once a week. This is Mason with his great grandfather, Goer. I've called him Goer since I was little because he ALWAYS wants to go somewhere!

Sooo cute that I had to post it twice. Love how Mason is touching Hailey's leg.

And now for a much needed picture/posting of my Piper. We keep to the cats' routine as much as possible, even with the babies. Piper and Tiggs still get tuna every night at 9 pm and still drink their chilled bottled water from their special glass on the coffee table. Yes, they are crazy spoiled but we wouldn't have it any other way. They're very protective of the babies and we're pretty sure that if Piper had a thumb, she'd offer to help us feed the babies.
The other day while rubbing on Pipes I noticed a large, golf ball sized mass on her side. Panic immediately set in and we called the vet. Turns out she had an abcess from a scuffle she got into the other day with a stray cat. Our new vet said she was one of the coolest cats he'd ever treated. He was able to manipulate, lance and drain her abscess without any pain meds or sedating her. She's a trooper for sure! The vet said that if we didn't want her, he'd take her as his own pet. Who could not want this girl?!?!?
Piper and her shaved war wound.

Close-up of Piper's incision. I think its so funny that their skin is the same color as the hair that was shaved off. We love our Pipey!

5 Weeks Old Pediatrician Visit

Yesterday we did the kids' 5 week pediatrician visit. It was a nice break and we enjoyed getting out of the house for a bit. We love their pediatrician and he's so informative and easy to talk to. Mason's reflux situation is finally resolved. He's on Mylicon four times a day, Axid (prescription Zantac for babies) twice a day and can only tolerate the premade Similac Sensitive formula. No more horrible grunting and arching during feedings and burpings. Hailey hasn't had any issues and we went ahead and switched her over to the Similac Sensitive, too. Right now keeping two different formulas and bottles straight would be crazy, so maybe in a week or so we'll make the switch back to regular formula for her. As a side note for all those that think "breast is best" I agree with you, however after I had a breast reduction that removed eight pounds of breast tissue I'm unable to breastfeed. And yes I said EIGHT pounds of boobs...I know the amount is alarming- hopefully Hailey won't inherit that gene from me.

The only issue we're monitoring for the babies right now is Mason's ingrown toenail. I never thought we'd have such minor issues with these two. I was prepared for a long NICU stay before they arrived. God has definitely blessed us with these two healthy, happy babies and we couldn't be more thrilled. Here are their stats:

Mason -
Weight: 8 lbs, 7 ozs
Length: 21 inches

Hailey -
Weight: 7 lbs, 15.5 ozs
Length: 20.75 inches

I forgot to get their head circumferences, but needless to say they're growing like weeds. Each day its so fun to see how they change. Right now Casey is feeding Hailey and he just commented, "this gets more fun everyday".

Here's a recent picture of skin to skin time with Daddy while watching the Astros. Hailey's on the left and Mason is on the right. I love 'em all so much it hurts!

Look Alikes

We finally had all of the pictures printed from our cameras in order to make more room on our memory cards. With two cuties its hard to decide which photos should stay and which ones can go...so of course we chose all 300+ pics to be printed at Wal-Mart.
A couple weeks ago when looking back over pictures I found one of Hailey where she's making a facial expression as Casey's mom makes. Do you see the resemblance?

Four Weeks and Our First Play Date!

The Turner Twins had their first play date on Sunday. We had invited over some close friends for a little cook out and while I headed to the store, Casey got a call that the Hoffarts (Mommy Emily, Daddy Jacob and Sweet Baby Wyatt) were headed over to play, too! Casey and Jacob have worked together for quite awhile and are super close.
Wyatt was delivered by Dr Westmoreland exactly one week before Hailey and Mason arrived. While only a week separates their birthdays their size difference tells another story. Wyatt was born at 40 weeks and Hailey and Mason were delivered just shy of 36 weeks. During our pregnancies (mine and Emily's), Casey and Jacob were a big support for each other. Even now there are many calls between the two new Daddys everyday!
When I got back from the store poor Jacob had been soaked in Mason's spit up. Jacob was of course completely unphased and immediately started helping unload groceries. Its sooo great to have such understanding friends that have babies, too! We talked the Hoffarts in to staying for dinner and soon Jackie, Jason and Michelle arrived.
The men were in charge of grilling yummy burgers, sausage and boudain while the women chatted and took care of babies. With seven adults and three babies, there was lots of baby love, picture taking and cuddles to go around. We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the adult interaction. It was a great way to mark the Turner Twins' 4 week birthday!
Thanks again Emily, Jacob, Wyatt, Jackie, Jason and Michelle. We hope Uncle Ryan can make it to the next gathering. I promise to be more prepared and to have actually gotten dressed and showered...so ashamed!

Hailey, Wyatt and Mason's first meeting in the pack-n-play.
Hailey checking out Wyatt. I'm pretty certain we can say this is when her crush on Wyatt started.

The party is getting started...."Wave your hands in the air like you just don't care! Whoop whoop!"

Hailey loves a man with great dance moves. Here she decides to sneak in a little kiss while her little brother is distracted.

When the arms stopped waving, the pile of baby legs started kicking!

Hailey uses the game of footsie to make her second move on Wyatt. Here the little hoochie mama throws her leg over Wyatt's leg...just to make sure he wasn't getting any mixed signals from her! Mason's still unaware of the action - he was totally fascinated by Wyatt, too.

Hailey using her cute, innocent face to play off the fact she's trying to goose Wyatt with her legs.
Wyatt's facial expression tells the REAL story.

After a few minutes I think Wyatt got a bit concerned. He was surrounded by little people!!! One was trying to make a move on him, while the other one wouldn't stop staring! LOL!

Finally sweet Wyatt was rescued by Mommy Emily and safe at last from the little people.
Hailey and Mason discussing Hailey's crush on Wyatt. Here she is explaining how she locked arms with him.

Hailey showing off her hoochie mama leg move to Mason. I'm pretty sure he explained that her behavior was unacceptable and he's the only boy she should be hanging out with. Hailey's daddy agrees, too! Its too early to start thinking of her as Hailey Hoffart!
