C and I are very eager to start our IVF cycle...problem is we don't have all the meds just yet. Due to the fantastic benefits my employer provides, invitro is covered by my medical insurance at almost 100%. Getting the pharmacies that specialize in infertility to believe that I have full coverage is another story.
I actually had one pharmacy tell me that I could pay $2,300 for one injection or they could maybe run it through our insurance and see if it was covered. Gee......hard decision: $2300 for just one med or a $30 copay. Even the pharmacist just kinda blew me off when I explained in detail the medication was a fully covered benefit under my medical plan.
We now have half of the meds - just waiting on the actual injections. We have received 6 or 7 bottles of pills, a sharps container, some hormone patches and alcohol preps. The other stuff should be delivered today.
I was quite happy to receive the first delivery so I know I'll be even more pumped to receive the rest. I actually held the box over my head and shook it as I ran down a row of coworkers sitting in their cubicles at work. Thankfully we're a close enough group that most were just as excited as I was. Three of the other women I work were all successful at having babies with the assistance of Dr. Gill. One is even carrying twins (sadly she had triplets, but lost one of the babies recently)!!!
I took my last birth control pill last night and now we'll just be waiting for me to start my period. Once that happens it will be Operation Baby full steam ahead!!!!
